SIALKOT (July 17 2010): Gujranwala Business Centre (GBC) is successfully functioning and catering to the needs of the business community engaged in different trade fields in Gujranwala. The centre is playing an instrumental role for providing platform and facilities for the promotion of industrial development and supporting entrepreneurs get exposure for business expansion.
Customers visiting the GBC display hall can see the products and also talk with the marketing representatives of the companies. The staff, also, is facilitating business match making process. Sources in Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) Friday told Business Recorder that Gujranwala Business Centre was a joint project of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, Ministry of Industries and Production and Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
It was funded by Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) with an amount of Rs 98.78 million, while land worth Rs 50 million was provided by Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI). The business centre consists of 130 stalls, which are helping manufacturers of Gujranwala present and promote their products both locally and internationally. It is firmly believed that setting up such a centre in Gujranwala would help in upward growth of the industry, not only in Gujranwala, but also other in neighbouring cities of the city.
The objectives of GBC are to help businessmen effectively display their products for marketing at national and international levels, increase exposure for local business community to international business trends and ability to benchmark with the contemporary product standards, besides general compliance with international trade regulatory regime, and motivation for improvement at all levels of value chain including product design, quality, standards, packaging and presentations etc resulting in value addition. The industrial hub of Gujranwala was in dire need of an advanced business centre to promote its products under one roof. Now, the GBC will play a pivotal role in bringing out the hidden potential of Gujranwala industry
