Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

KARACHI (July 20 2010): The Karachi Port handled 305,977 tonnes of cargo including 228,397 tonnes of import cargo; 77,580 tonnes of export cargo and 4,384 loaded and empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 228,397 tonnes comprised of 75,795 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,324 tonnes of general cargo; 62,445 tonnes of bulk cargo: 15,547 tonnes of fertiliser; 27,900 tonnes of coal; 15,680 tonnes of rock phosphate; 3,318 tonnes of flours and 75,833 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 77,580 tonnes comprised of 51,825 tonnes of containerised cargo; 369 tonnes of general cargo; 19,686 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,926 tonnes of cement; 14,760 tonnes of bulk cement and 5,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

Eleven ships namely Mare Gallicum, OOCL Charleston, APL Chicago, German S, Hansa India, OEL Trust, Zenith Leader, Darya Jann, Fountain, Rainbow Angel and Precedence sailed out to sea during the reported period. Thirteen vessels viz Topaz-II, C Utopia, Samin-1, OEL Trust, Hyundai Oakland, Irenes Rainbow, Bunga Raya Sepuluh, APL Ruby, Rainbow Angel, Great Prestige, MT Swat and Al-Kuwaitiah are currently at the berths.

Four ships namely Samin-1, Great Prestige, Bunga Raya Sepuluh and Ocean Island expected to sail on Monday, while seven vessels viz Al-Wajba, Hyundai Oakland, C Utopia, Ocean Project, Irenes Rainbow, Al-Kuwaitiah and Emperor are expected to sail on Tuesday.

Three vessels viz North Pole, Quetta and Bunga Raya Empat due to arrive on Monday, while eight ships namely CPO Korea, Golden Glory, Pic Saint Loup, STX Patraikos, APL Turquoise, James River Bridge, Marcampania and Hot Star are due to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
The Port Qasim handled 80,666 tonnes of cargo includes 71,534 tonnes of import cargo; 9,132 tonnes of export cargo and 2,360 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 71,534 tonnes includes 30,477 tonnes of furnace oil; 6,049 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,500 tonnes of palm oil; 2,658 tonnes of canola seeds and 23,850 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 9,132 tonnes of containerised cargo.

Four vessels viz MSC Sena, MT Al-Deerah, MT Champion Breli and CV Maersk Iowa sailed out to sea during last 24 hours. A total number of six vessels viz CV Maersk Iowa, MV Golden Falcon, MV Orient-II, MV Triton Swift, MT Champion Breli and MT Buhairah are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, sugar, canola seeds, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Four ships namely Bunga Alpinia, Gas Eastern, Saudi Hofuf and Southern Bull carrying palm oil, LPG, containers and chemicals are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz CV Saudi Hofuf, MT Bunga Alpinia and MV Southern Bull carrying containers, palm oil and chemicals are expected to take berths at Container Terminal Liquid Cargo Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday. Two ships namely CV Nedlloyd Tasman and CV Al-Noof carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday. A total number of three vessels viz CSA Cant Brian, Aruni Rickmers and CMA CGM Coral carrying containers are also due to arrive.
